Laura launched LSM Communications, LLC, (LSM) in October 2013, providing strategic planning and communications consulting services to health care clients throughout the South Bay. Clients have included:

In August of 2015, Laura and her team brought the South Bay Families Connected (SBFC) project online with the goal of having a positive impact on the social-emotional wellness of youth. The project now serves families at 90 Partner Schools in the South Bay, and components of the project are supported by the SBFC not-for-profit. Built as an agile and scalable model, the Families Connected Project is now poised to launch nationally. Laura is currently dedicated full-time to the Families Connected project and its Partner School implementations. She also volunteers in the South Bay Families Connected nonprofit as the project’s creative director.
Prior to launching LSM, Laura’s background comprised nearly two decades of health care consulting and marketing experience in the following positions:
Senior consultant in the Health Care Management Consulting Division of Ernst & Young
Director of Physician Relations at Providence Saint Joseph Medical Center, Burbank,
Regional Director of Marketing and Public Relations, the Cedars-Sinai Cancer Center
Laura graduated from UCLA with a B.A. in Psychology and a business emphasis minor. As an undergraduate she served as a Behavior Modification Therapist and Teaching Assistant in the UCLA Autism project, as a research assistant in human memory in the UCLA Psychology Department, and as an English, psychology, and astronomy tutor for the UCLA Athletic Department. The Families Connected Project has allowed Laura to circle back to her passion for education and social-emotional wellness.
Vice President, Content Production (January 2017 - present)
Melissa is an independent documentary film producer whose current film, Attache, is now on the festival route, including DOC LA, Sidewalk Film Festival, Beach Cities Inspirational Film Fest, Oxford Film Fest among others. It’s a film which focuses on the importance of music/arts education in public schools, a subject very dear to her heart. Prior to her independent productions, Melissa had extensive experience as an award-winning producer and director on the Dr. Phil, Show, as well as at Pie Town Productions. Melissa’s passion for education and lifting up youth comes through in the videos she produces for LSM and its clients. In partnership with Laura, Melissa is the creative force behind the various Families Connected video series. She is particularly passionate about sharing authentic stories of struggle and perseverance in a way that is both sensitive to the story teller and meaningful and enriching to the viewer. She directs all aspects of the Families Connected video productions, from subject selection, talent direction, filming , and editing. She is a graduate of the University of Mississippi. The value of Melissa's work and our appreciation for her ongoing contributions to the Families Connected project are immeasurable.
Manager, Social Media and Digital Production (August 2017 - present)
Kelsey started with LSM as a part-time research associate, and in December 2018, was promoted to her current position as Manager, Social Media and Digital Production. She brings extensive expertise and an eye for detail to her work managing social media content production and engagement for several LSM clients on numerous platforms. She also manages the South Bay Families Connected event calendar, blog publications, and research updates. Kelsey is passionate about helping youth and also serves as the head volleyball coach at a high school in Petaluma, CA, and head coach for a Sonoma club volleyball team. A graduate of Sonoma State University with a degree in Early Childhood Studies, Kelsey was named as an All American middle blocker her senior year. Kelsey is inspired to help youth directly through coaching, teaching, and her work with the Families Connected project.
Senior Editor (March 2017 - present)
Katie is an online editor for LSM, reviewing and editing online content and blog submissions for the Families Connected project. As the pace of life accelerates, she's committed to furthering content about health and emotional wellness and happiness. She's a graduate of the University of Alabama where she has a B.A. in English and a minor in Radio Broadcasting. Katie worked as an online editor for Fine Living Network (now the Cooking Channel) and also as a public radio reporter where her work aired on Marketplace. She currently manages digital marketing projects and products.
Freelance Multi-Media Production (March 2016 - present)
James' role on the team in sound production for LSM video productions, his graphic design work creating SBFC Partner School logos and promotional material, and other project work for both print and digital applications, has been invaluable. A graduate of Cal State Dominguez Hills with a degree in sound engineering and graphic design, he is skilled in numerous platforms. We are grateful to James for his ongoing commitment to the improvement, growth, and impact of the Families Connected project and to LSM's clients.
Freelance Website Manager (June 2015 - present)
A graduate of the Sonoma State School of Business, Danny is a freelance website builder and manager for LSM Communications, providing outstanding service on numerous platforms. Danny's full-time job is with a non-profit in Santa Rosa, CA, that employs at risk youth to complete restoration/conservation projects while providing them with job readiness skills and giving the youth the opportunity to earn a high school diploma. He is passionate about the environmental and teen wellness and is an enormous asset to the South Bay Families Connected project.

When needed, we have a team of exceptionally talented independent contractors, from photographers to printers, who are available under the LSM umbrella. This approach allows us flexibility in assembling optimal staffing for each client's unique needs, goals, and budget.

Dana Brawer, Director of Production (2013 - 2016)
Though Dana is no longer a member of the SBFC production team, this page would not be complete without acknowledging her for the intuition, talent, and dedication that she gave to the initial production and launch of the SBFC website. A film school graduate of NYU's Tisch School of Arts, Dana has worked at Netflix, CBS, MTV and the Colbert Report, among others. She spends additional time at red carpet screenings of her own independent, award-winning productions. We will forever be grateful that Dana paused a long while at LSM upon her path to big things. Holly Francisco Maynes, Graphic Designer (2014 - 2018)
Holly is a talented graphic artist whose experience in corporate communications spans two decades and includes design and production of advertising and collateral materials for Northrop Grumman, Cannon Computers, Fremont Investment & Loan, The U.S. Open, Healthcare Partners, Cristel David Broadcasting, Wilshire Holdings Corp., Behavioral Health Services, INN8DESIGN, and more. We will forever be grateful to Holly for consistently delivering clean and compelling design work to the SBFC project and our numerous health care clients. Wishing her all the best and many adventures in her retirement.
Katie McIntire, Manager, Research and Quality Assurance (2017 - 2018)
Katie joined LSM in October, 2017 and has had a lasting impact in the quality management of client projects. A graduate from the University of Southern California with a B.A. in English and a minor in cinema studies, Katie has an eye for detail and organization, working to proofread and manage content and engagement tracking for the SBFC project, as well as assisting with strategic plans for LSM clients. We wish her well as she pursues a graduate degree in the health sciences.
