Laura Short McIntire
President, LSM Communications, LLC
Founder, South Bay Families Connected
Laura launched LSM Communications, LLC, (LSM) upon signing its first client in October 2013. In August of 2015 she and her team brought the South Bay Families Connected (SBFC) project online with the goal of having a positive impact on the social-emotional wellness of youth in the South Bay. Prior to that, In addition to a long stint as a stay-at-home mom and school volunteer, Laura had almost two decades of experience in the health care field as a consultant in the Health Care Management Consulting Division of Ernst & Young, as the Director of Physician Relations at Saint Joseph Medical Center, Burbank, and as the Regional Director of Marketing and Public Relations at the Cedars-Sinai Cancer Center. Laura graduated from UCLA with a B.A. in Psychology and a business emphasis minor. As an undergraduate she served as a Behavior Modification Therapist and T.A. in the UCLA Autism project, as a research assistant in memory functions, and as an English and psychology tutor for the UCLA Athletic Department. The SBFC project has allowed Laura to circle back to her passion and desire to have a lasting and positive impact on mental heath and wellness for youth.
Vice President of Production (January 2017 - present)
Melissa's extensive experience as a producer and director includes her work on the Dr. Phil, Show, as well as at Pie Town Productions. In partnership with Laura, Melissa is the creative force behind the various SBFC video series. She is particularly passionate about sharing authentic stories of struggle and perseverance in a way that is both sensitive to the story teller and meaningful and enriching to the viewer. She directs all aspects of the SBFC video productions, from subject selection, talent direction, filming , and editing. She is a graduate of the University of Mississippi, The value of Melissa's work and the appreciation that we have for her ongoing contributions to the SBFC project are immeasurable.
Anna Pirkl, M.A., LMFT, ATR
Partner, SBFC Empathy and Compassion Project (June 2017 - present)
Anna's role in partnering with Laura to build the SBFC Empathy and Compassion Project has been critical in the development of this in-classroom model being offered to schools throughout the South Bay. A graduate of the Loyola Marymount Masters program in Marital and Family Therapy with specialized training in Clinical Art Therapy, Anna has extensive experience as an art therapist and trauma specialist for youth. In addition to her own private practice, Anna has worked as a therapist and group facilitator at Central Juvenile Hall, as a primary therapist at the Airport Marina Counseling Service, as an LAUSD Health Start Counselor, and as a psychotherapist at Recovery Now.
Freelance Content Writer and Editor (June 2014-present)
Cailyn graduated from Tufts University with degrees in psychology and English and a minor in communications. In December of 2014 she started full-time at Jukin Media, a multi-platform digital media company, first as a staff writer, and more recently as an associate producer. We are grateful that Cailyn finds time for her side gig as an ongoing content writer and editor for the SBFC project and for LSM clients. She is also pursuing acting and has appeared in numerous Jukin Media original videos for their Pet Collective and Fail Army brands, and on stage at The Stand Up Citizens Brigade on Sunset.
Freelance Multi-Media Production (December 2016 - present)
James is a graduate of Cal State Dominguez Hills with a degree in sound engineering and graphic design. His role on the team in producing the sound signatures for SBFC, the Partner School logos and promotional material, and other graphic design work for both print and digital applications is invaluable. His skill in numerous platforms, including Photo Shop, continually help elevate the look and feel of the SBFC and Partner School webpages, websites, and collateral material. We are grateful to James for his ongoing commitment to the improvement, growth, and impact of the SBFC project.
Katie Frankle, PMP, CSM
Project Management Consultant (September 2017 - present)
Katie is an agile project manager who excels at managing digital projects and teams. She collaborates with strategic planners and visionaries to craft tactical implementation plans and has worked in the digital ad agency world for over 10 years. She believes that although process and platform are critical elements for success, softer skills are actually more important now than ever: securing the right people, listening to them and supporting their strengths. She’s a graduate of the University of Alabama where she studied English and Radio Broadcasting.
Freelance Website Manager (June 2015 - present)
A graduate of the Sonoma State School of Business, Danny is a freelance website builder and manager for LSM Communications, providing outstanding service on numerous platforms. Danny's full-time job is with a non-profit in Santa Rosa, CA, that employs at risk youth to complete restoration/conservation projects while providing them with job readiness skills and giving the youth the opportunity to earn a high school diploma. He is passionate about the environmental and teen wellness and is an enormous asset to the South Bay Families Connected project.
Holly Francisco Maynes
Freelance Graphic Designer (February 2014 - present)
Holly is a talented graphic artist whose experience in corporate communications spans two decades and includes design and production of advertising and collateral materials for Northrop Grumman, Cannon Computers, Fremont Investment & Loan, The U.S. Open, Healthcare Partners, Cristel David Broadcasting, Wilshire Holdings Corp., Behavioral Health Services, INN8DESIGN, and more. Holly consistently delivers clean and compelling design work to the SBFC project. She and Laura have co-produced numerous print and digital ad campaigns, brochures, folders, rack cards, educational material, flyers, and POP displays for LSM client projects.
Research and Content Writing Intern (September 2017 - December 2017)
Kelsey is currently a scholarship volleyball player at Sonoma State University. A red-shirted freshman, she is excited for her final season playing for SSU and serving as the team's captain. During her internship, Kelsey's internship will provide her an opportunity to research resources for the SBFC Spectrum Disorders Page (currently in development), to write synopsis of relevant articles and research that provide insight for parents raising children with a diagnosis, as well as produce original content. Upon graduating, Kelsey hopes to pursue a career in teaching and coaching.

Director of Production (October 2013-2016)
Though Dana is no longer a member of the SBFC production team, this page would not be complete without acknowledging her for the intuition, talent, and dedication that she gave to the initial production and launch of the SBFC website. A film school graduate of NYU's Tisch School of Arts, Dana has worked at Netflix, CBS, MTV and the Colbert Report, among others. She spends additional time at red carpet screenings of her own independent, award-winning productions. We will forever be grateful that Dana paused a long while at LSM upon her path to big things.
